Welcome to my project page! I'm thrilled to share the story behind my latest work this semester. You'll find the context and inspiration that brought this project to life here. Several projects have descriptions when you put your mouse over the picture. Thanks for stopping by!

This is a revised email I crafted for Suzanne to send. I applied concepts from my business communication class, such as starting with an attention-grabbing introduction and enhancing visual appeal by using bullet points to organize the content effectively.

This email was sent to Suzanne to provide professional guidance on how to enhance her email and make it more impactful for her employees. I focused on building a strong reputation for demonstrating my ability to follow up effectively and provide constructive feedback in a respectful and supportive manner.

This is a revised email I crafted for Suzanne to send. I applied concepts from my business communication class, such as starting with an attention-grabbing introduction and enhancing visual appeal by using bullet points to organize the content effectively.
Through this experience, I learned the critical role that emails play, especially when communicating with a large audience. A poorly written email can easily be overlooked by employees, diminishing its effectiveness. Additionally, I gained a deeper understanding of how communication directly impacts reputation, highlighting the importance of crafting emails that are both professional and engaging.
01
Email Activity
For this assignment, I took on the role of an intern tasked with revising an email from upper management to ensure it was polished and professional enough to be sent to all employees.

As part of the process, I began by annotating the original email, focusing on identifying and extracting the key information. Once I understood the essential points to be conveyed, I rewrote the email for Suzanne, incorporating effective communication strategies learned in class to make it engaging and actionable. Finally, I sent a follow-up email with a polite and professional tone, attaching the revised email for the manager’s review.

02
Data Tracking Activity
In this project, the primary objective was to collect data, analyze it by transforming it into visual representations, and draw meaningful conclusions from the findings. I chose to focus on data related to my phone usage because I often feel that I spend an excessive amount of time on my phone. I was curious to explore just how much this behavior is impacting my daily life, productivity, and overall well-being.

To achieve this, I tracked and recorded data on my phone usage over a set period. I organized all the collected data into an Excel spreadsheet to ensure clarity and structure. From there, I used R Studio to create the visualizations, coding the data to generate graphs that provided insights into my screen time, notifications, and device interactions. This process allowed me to better understand the patterns and trends in my phone usage and assess its potential effects on my routine and priorities. Through this project, I not only honed my data analysis skills but also gained valuable personal insights, reinforcing the importance of balancing technology use in daily life.

The line graph illustrates the daily trends in minutes spent on the device, notifications received, and pickups. Overall, the total screen time was consistently higher than both notifications and pickups. The trends suggest a potential correlation between the number of notifications and pickups. Reflecting on my own behavior, I believe this relationship is likely accurate. Moving forward, I could experiment with turning off notifications to observe whether it reduces my pickups and overall scree

This pie chart highlights the distribution of my most frequently used applications throughout the day. Notably, Instagram stands out as my most-used app. A significant portion of my time on Instagram is spent scrolling through new content. Additionally, I dedicate considerable time to managing social media accounts for the swim club and cooking club, which contributes to its high usage.

This bar chart compares the average number of notifications received on exam days versus non-exam days. I was curious to see if there would be a noticeable difference, as I typically feel like I spend less time on my phone on the days I have exams. However, the chart suggests that the numbers are quite similar. This may be because, after finishing an exam, I tend to immediately catch up on my phone, checking everything I missed and often spending more time than I usually would.

This screenshot showcases how I organize and document data for each day and variable. Each variable is placed in its own column, ensuring a clear and structured format that simplifies graph creation in R Studio. Additionally, this layout allows for seamless use of Excel functions to further analyze the data.

03
Team Presentation
In this project, I collaborated with classmates as "interns," working together to create an engaging and informative presentation on a specific professional topic. To connect with our audience, our group tailored the presentation by incorporating insights from our respective majors. Additionally, we ensured that our approach aligned with the overarching theme of our chosen company, Amazon.

Through this experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for the importance of teamwork, time management, and effective communication. Coordinating with team members was essential to delivering a presentation that felt seamless and cohesive. Moving forward, I aim to apply these team-building and communication skills to future projects, enhancing both collaboration and outcomes.

Feedback Reflection
In this section, I have highlighted several activities from this semester that showcase my ability to both give and receive constructive feedback. These activities include completing feedback worksheets, participating in discussion boards, and engaging in various other exercises.

When providing feedback, I strive to contribute my own ideas to enhance the project while remaining open-minded and receptive to incorporating others' perspectives. My focus goes beyond simply completing the assignment; I aim to create work that I am genuinely proud of and that reflects a collaborative and thoughtful approach.

For this website project, I participated in a peer workshop where I both received and provided feedback to one of my peers. The feedback I received from my partner was incredibly valuable and offered fresh perspectives on how to improve my website. I thoughtfully incorporated their suggestions into the final version of my site, focusing on enhancing its functionality, design, and overall user experience.

Earlier this semester, I received valuable feedback on improving my LinkedIn profile. Several classmates provided insightful suggestions, which I implemented to enhance my account. As a result of these changes, I have seen a noticeable increase in my number of connections, reflecting the positive impact of their feedback and my updates.

This screenshot highlights one of the data tracking peer workshops I participated in this semester. I felt confident in the constructive feedback I provided to my peer. After reviewing the worksheet together, we collaborated to merge our ideas, which helped us refine and improve our data tracking activity effectively.

05
CAS Case Study
This semester, I worked on an exciting project in addition to my regular school assignments. Alongside a few friends who share a similar interest in the actuarial field, we participated in the CAS Case Study competition where teams competed from various university across the United States.

In this project, we showcased our coding skills in R and technical expertise in Excel. Additionally, we delivered a formal presentation of our final visualizations, which allowed us to refine our public speaking abilities and practice effectively communicating technical information to an audience. This experience was a valuable opportunity to integrate analytical skills with professional presentation techniques.
